|
DESCRIPTION |
|
It is a highly
durable, fine gradation,
cement-based faience and ceramic tile adhesive containing
polymer.
|
 |
|
AREAS OF APPLICATION |
|
It is used to affix
ceramic and tiles, etc. to wall and floor surfaces in interior
and exterior spaces. It can be applied to cement based plaster,
concrete floor and levelled concrete surfaces.
|
APPLICATION
LIMITS |
1-Can not be applied to wood, painted, metal and gypsum
plastered surfaces
2-Can not be used on the existing ceramic-tile
surfaces, concrete wall, gypsum board and cement board particles
without prime coat which improves adherence.
RKS;has a high resistance to exterior climate, mainly to
extremes of freezing and hot weather. It is a top quality,
highly adhesive product. It provides a fast and easy
application. RKS forms a solid ground with its high adhesive
resistance.
|
|
PREPARATION OF
SURFACE |
1. Plaster thinner
than 3 mm on the surface must be scraped and thoroughly removed.
2. Porous surfaces must be wetted and water layer should be let
to disappear, leaving a humid surface.
3. Significant irregularities or holes on the surface must be
remedied by using BETOX Reparing Mortar Coarse at least 48 hours
prior to application of RKS Ceramic-Tile Adhesive.
4. Local repairs below 7 mm may be performed by using RKS
Ceramic-Tile Adhesive.
|
|
APPLICATION
REQUIREMENTS |
1. It is recommended
to be applied under an ambient temperature ranging between 5ºC
and 35ºC.
2. It should not be applied to melted, frozen or hot surfaces.
3. It should not be applied to surfaces exposed to sunlight.
4. No foreign substance (lime, cement, gypsum, etc.) should be
added to the mortar prepared.
5. Mortar should not be reused after mixing it with water or dry
mortar if the period specified for its use has elapsed.
|
|
APPLICATION |
1. 6-7 liters of
water in average and 25 kg. of RKS Ceramic-Tile Adhesive should
be thoroughly mixed by a mixer with a low rotation speed or a
trowel so that no lump remains in the mortar.
2. RKS Ceramic-Tile Adhesive should be mixed again for 1 or 2
minutes after 5 minutes the initial mixing process in order to
obtain a homogenous mixture.
3. Mortar should be applied to both the surface of application
and the back of ceramic tiles larger than 25 x 25 cm in order to
ensure adhesion on both sides.
4. Mortar will be applied to the surface and its thickness must
be adjusted by a notched steel trowel. The notch size of trowels
should be determined according to the size of the ceramic tile
to be affixed and smoothness of the surface of application.
5.In order to achieve satisfactory adhesion, force must be
applied by using a rubber hammer and residue air should be
discharged.
